After that, we took the bus into the center of town and from there, we took the funicular up to the top of the large hill on the side of the city to see Notre Dame de Lyon. For you non-frenchie people, almost every major city has a Notre Dame (meaning Our Lady), not just Paris. Notre Dame de Paris is just the most well-known one.
This is the view of it from below:
And once we got up to it.
The carvings on the front of it were very intricate:
Then we went in. It was beautiful and it was all tiled with gold leaf mixed in. Just behind the cathedral, was a viewing platform that looked out over the whole city.
From there, we walked down the hill, back towards the city, looking for lunch. On the way, we ended up going past some ancient Roman ruins.
We came down the rest of the hill and had some lunch at a crèperie with some fruit from a nearby store. We then walked across the Rhone River.
We spent the rest of the afternoon walking down the major shopping street and looking around. We went to dinner at a Chinese restaurant because everyone was looking for a lighter meal than we'd had the night before.
I've been to the Notre Dame de Lyon! It's soo cool. The French students we were with said it looked like an upside down elephant. Awesome pictures! Have you been to the building that is a giant mural of all the influential characters/people from France? I think it's in Lyon.
